Shimla Mar 6
The Himachal Pradesh State government has pulled back the announcement to increase the revised pay scale and payment of dearness allowance to around 2.6 lakh employees and 3.50 lakh pensioners in the state.
A notification issued by the government on March 5 said that that the previous instructions issued regarding the payment of arrears on account of revision of pay scales and dearness allowance, has been withdrawn.
The notification does not provide any reason for the withdrawal. However, it is important to note that two notifications were issued on March 2 and 4, 2024, announcing payment of four percent dearness allowance for state government employees with effect from April 1, 2024 and payment of revised pension was announced to be released in ( three slabs of 1.50 pc 0.25 pc and three percent of pre 2016, from April 2016 to April 2022 and post April 2022 to March 2024).
It is worthwhile to mention that various pressure groups of State employees and pensioners including Communist Party of India (Marxist) had strongly condemned the notification.

The notification was criticised by the employees and pensioners alleging that lakhs of employees of the state have been waiting for their dues since 2016 but with the announced payment schedule in three slabs of 1.50 pc , 0.25 pc and three pc DA it would take more than thirty years to remit all pending allowance.
