
Shimla, June 8
Continuing its special drive against drug trafficking, Shimla Police have arrested four persons in two separate cases and recovered a total of 16 grams of heroin (chitta) along with narcotic tablets and capsules.
In the first case, the Special Cell Shimla arrested a 24-year-old man and recovered heroin and psychotropic medicines from his possession near the Taradevi-Tutu bifurcation.
According to police, acting on a tip-off, a Special Cell team conducted a raid in the area and intercepted Harshal, son of Ashwani Kumar, a native of Bilaspur district presently residing at Kusumpati in Shimla.
During a search of his backpack, police recovered around seven grams of heroin along with 85 tablets and capsules, including Buprenorphine-Naloxone tablets, Mirtazapine tablets and Pregabalin capsules.
Police said the accused failed to produce any licence or authorization for possessing the recovered substances. A case under Section 21 of the NDPS Act and Section 18(C) of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act was registered at Shimla West Police Station.
The accused was arrested and later produced before a court, which remanded him to police custody. Further investigation is in progress.
In another operation, Police Station Theog arrested three persons and seized nine grams of heroin from their possession.
The police team, while on patrol duty, received information that three individuals sitting in a vehicle parked near a roadside turn at Gajeri were allegedly involved in the sale and purchase of heroin. Acting on the information, police searched the vehicle and recovered nine grams of chitta.
The arrested accused were identified as Rajesh Chauhan (38) of Jubbal, Manik Sood (29) of Kotkhai and Anshul Sharma of Jubbal. A case under Sections 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act was registered at Theog Police Station.
All three accused were produced before a court and remanded to police custody. Further investigation is underway.
