Shimla, Oct 1,
The Governor of Himachal Pradesh has cancelled the process of selection for the Chairman, Himachal Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (HPERC). A notification issued by the Department of MPP & Power on September 30 stated that the process initiated through an advertisement on August 14, 2025, stands withdrawn.
Though the reason for cancelling the process has not been clarified in the order, neither by any spokesperson but the decision may have been taken in the backdrop of a representation made last month by Atul Sharma of Shimla, who questioned the vigilance clearance granted to one of the applicants. His letter was also forwarded to retired Justice V.K. Sharma and the Chairperson of the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC).
