According to Superintendent of Police, District Shimla, the alert was received earlier in the day, triggering swift deployment of security personnel. Senior police officials, including DIG Southern Range Anjum Aara, led the response operation, accompanied by the Bomb Disposal Squad, Quick Reaction Teams (QRT), Dog Squad, and Special Operations personnel. The High Court premises were promptly evacuated to ensure the safety of judges, court staff, lawyers, and the general public. Authorities acted swiftly to prevent any untoward incident, prioritizing the safety of all individuals present in and around the court complex.
Following the evacuation, a thorough sanitization and search operation was conducted. Every room, corridor, and entry and exit point within the High Court complex was systematically searched. Security teams scoured the entire premises and adjoining areas for any suspicious object or individual. The extensive operation lasted nearly four hours, during which time the area remained under complete lockdown.
Fortunately, no explosives or suspicious items were found, and the threat was declared a false alarm. With no evidence of IEDs or human suicide bombers, the police have concluded that the situation was a hoax, though investigations may continue to trace the source of the threat.
By late afternoon, normalcy was gradually being restored at the High Court. Officials confirmed that functioning will resume in a phased and secure manner, with enhanced vigilance continuing in the coming days as a precaution.
The Shimla Police have appealed to the public to remain calm but vigilant. Authorities urged citizens to immediately report any suspicious activity or objects to the nearest police unit. While the threat turned out to be unfounded, officials reiterated the importance of public cooperation in maintaining security in sensitive areas.
