Shimla, Feb 17,

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced an increase in the daily wage of MNREGA workers by Rs 60, raising it from Rs 240 to Rs 300 per day. Presenting the 2024-25 budget estimates in the state assembly on Saturday, the Chief Minister stated that the Government would allocate Rs 76 Cr from state-owned resources to raise the daily wage and support MNREGA works in the state.

He further declared that woman MNREGA workers with an income of Rs 2.50 lakh from any source would receive Rs three lakh for house construction after completing 100 days of MNREGA work in the state.

The Chief Minister also announced increases in the honorarium for various positions: Zila Parishad Chairman to Rs 24,000 per month, Vice Chairman of ZP to Rs 18,000, Member of ZP to Rs 7,800 per month, Chairman of Panchayat Samiti to Rs 11,400 per month, Vice Chairman of Panchayat Samiti to Rs 8,400 per month, and members of PS to Rs 7,200. The Pardhan of Gram Panchayat will receive Rs 7,200.

Additionally, the Government allocated a budget of Rs 20,330 Cr to Rural Panchayati Raj Institutions. The monthly salary of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor was raised to Rs 24,000 and Rs 18,000 respectively, while Municipal Corporation councelors will receive Rs 8,400 per month. The Chairman of Nagar Parishad will now receive Rs 10,200 per month, and the Vice Chairperson will receive Rs 8,400.

The State Government also decided to streamline the approval process for new maps under Town and Country Planning through a single online Auto portal, allowing private professionals to participate in construction projects.
