Shimla, Mar 5
Terming it a mockery the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has strongly condemned the notification issued by the State government regarding provisions for payment of arrears and dearness allowance to the employees after the implementation of the new pay scale.
State Secretary of CPI (M), Dr. Omkar Shad said that lakhs of employees of the state have been waiting for their dues since 2016 but the recent notification issued by the government is ridiculous. Explaining about it he said that if an employee has dues of Rs. 2 lakhs, then he will get only 1.5 percent of it now i.e. Rs. 3000. This amount will be received in the month of March and the remaining amount will be given at the rate of 0.25 percent i.e. Rs 500 per month and accordingly the entire outstanding amount will be paid in more than 32 years. This decision of the government is completely wrong and condemnable.
Dr. Shad said that the dearness allowance of the state employees is also lagging behind that of other employees. DA of Central employees has reached 50 percent but the State government is still far behind. Not only, according to the second notification regarding DA, if the dues from July 2022 to March 2024 of an employee is Rs 30,000, then he will get Rs 450 per month at the rate of 1.50 percent and it will take about 66 months. The party demands that the arrears towards DA of 4 percent from 1.1.2023 and 4 percent from 1.7.2023 should also be paid immediately.
Dr. Omkar Shad said that CPI (M) demands that the government should not make fun of the employees in this way and should pay their arrears in lump sum and not in pieces. This move can increase the anger among the employees. “Going by this calculation some employees will not be able to receive this amount during their lifetime,” he commented.
The leftist leaders said that those who is advising the government on such schemes, should review it immediately. These are completely anti-employee decisions and should be immediately withdrawn.
