In a solemn session today, the Himachal Pradesh Assembly paid tribute to three veteran journalists who recently passed away. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu led the House in expressing deep condolences for the untimely demise of Gaurav Bisht, Anand Bodh, and Vipin Kala, who were esteemed figures in the field of journalism.
Gaurav Bisht, the chief correspondent of Hindustan Times, passed away on August 28, 2024, at the age of 49. He was known for his fearless reporting and high standards of journalism. His work had a profound impact on public discourse in the region, and his contributions will continue to serve as a guiding light for future generations in the field.
The Assembly also mourned the loss of Anand Bodh, previously the Senior Assistant Editor of the Times of India. He passed away on July 7, 2024, at the age of 49. Bodh was recognized for his analytical prowess and deep understanding of regional issues. His departure has left a significant void in the journalistic community.
Further, the House expressed its sorrow over the passing of Vipin Kala, a senior correspondent with Amar Ujala. Kala, who passed away on June 15, 2024, at the age of 57, was born on September 18, 1966. He was known for his insightful reporting and dedication to his craft, making invaluable contributions to journalism.
In his address, Chief Minister Sukhu praised the three journalists for their unwavering commitment to truth and journalistic integrity. “The contributions of Shri Gaurav Bisht, Shri Anand Bodh, and Shri Vipin Kala in journalism are immense. Their fearless reporting and adherence to high standards will continue to inspire future generations,” the Chief Minister stated.
The House observed a moment of silence, praying for peace for the departed souls and strength for their families to bear this irreparable loss. The Assembly’s tribute highlighted the profound impact these journalists had on society, marking a poignant moment of reflection for all present.
