Shimla, May 8
In a display of quick thinking and decisive action, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu personally oversaw the rescue of five Himachali students from violence-hit Manipur. After receiving a call from the students seeking his help, the Chief Minister immediately arranged for a special flight and coordinated with local police and army officials to ensure their safe passage to the airport. The state government also bore the entire cost of the rescue operation. The students are expected to reach Delhi today, where they will meet the Chief Minister at Himachal Sadan to express their gratitude. The Chief Minister has assured that any other Himachali in need of help in Manipur can contact the state government for assistance.

The incident underscores the importance of proactive government intervention in ensuring the safety and security of citizens, especially in times of crisis.
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that the children had sought his help to get them out of violence-torn Manipur. They have been shifted to a safe place. He himself kept taking the details of rescuing the children from the officials every moment throughout the night. He kept an eye on the situation till he reached Kolkata efficiently. He said that if any other Himachali also needs help to move out of Manipur, they can call on phone numbers 89883-41921, 0177-2929688, 0177-2629439.
