Himachal sizzles as Una hits 41°C

A day after the warning about inclement weather on April 18 and 19, the Una town of Himachal Pradesh has recorded the highest temperature of the season today, as the mercury sizzled at 41 degrees Celsius.

The Meteorological Department stated that the maximum temperature rose to 41 degrees Celsius on Monday, along the Punjab border, which was three degrees above normal.
Other places in the region also experienced high temperatures, with Hamirpur recording a maximum temperature of 36.4 degrees Celsius, Kangra at 34 degrees Celsius, Shimla at 26 degrees Celsius, Dharmshala at 31.2 degrees Celsius, Solan at 32 degrees Celsius, Nahan at 34.8 degrees Celsius, Dhaulakaun at 38.8 degrees Celsius, Sundernagar at 35.4 degrees Celsius, Kufri at 20.8 degrees Celsius, Bhuntar (Kullu) at 33.5 degrees Celsius, and Kalpa at 21.9 degrees Celsius.

The Met Office has forecasted rain and thundershowers in most places in mid and high reaches, and a few places in the foothills in the next 24 hours. This could bring some relief from the hot weather conditions.
