The spokesperson emphasized that recruitments in the Legislative Assembly Secretariat, similar to those in the Raj Bhavan, High Court, and State Public Service Commission, are conducted through private secretariats. No alterations have been made in the recruitment process, and all appointments have been carried out in strict adherence to prescribed rules, reservation policies, and criteria previously established in accordance with the directives of the Honorable Supreme Court.
Since the inception of the Legislative Assembly, candidates from various districts have been selected based on their eligibility. The Secretariat provided a district-wise breakdown of past and current appointments, highlighting that selections were made across multiple regions. The spokesperson said that since the Legislative Assembly came into existence, candidates from all districts have been selected as per their eligibility in the appointments, in which appointments have been given to Shimla (37), Sirmaur (11), Bilaspur (03), Hamirpur (07), Kangra (36), Una (03), Chamba (05), Mandi (49), Kinnaur (01), Solan (14), Kullu (01), Uttarakhand (02) and Chandigarh (01).
“ While currently in the appointments made on the basis of merit, candidates have been selected from all the districts of the state, namely Shimla (02), Sirmaur (02), Bilaspur (01), Hamirpur (07), Kangra (01), Una (01), Chamba (15), Mandi (02) and Lahaul Spiti (01),” they added.
Addressing concerns raised in the public domain, the spokesperson underscored that the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly holds a constitutional position.” If anyone casts aspersions on a constitutional post through media or social media without knowing the facts, it will be considered a violation of the dignity of the constitutional post and a breach of privilege, warned the Vidhan Sabha media communique.
