Shimla, Aug 27,
During the Himachal Vidhan Sabha monsoon session, MLA Sudhir Sharma from Dharamshala raised a question regarding the resolution of complaints within the Environment, Science & Technology, and Climate Change Department. The query was directed towards the Chief Minister, inquiring about the current status of complaints related to officials and employees within the State Pollution Control Board (SPCB).
In response, it was revealed that, as of now, the SPCB has registered two complaints against officials and employees. The first complaint involves Praveen Kumar, Assistant Environmental Engineer, and Gurpreet Singh, Senior Environmental Engineer, both working at the Regional Office in Una. The issue is connected to the renewal of the consent letter for M/s Sera Bio Medical, located at Plot No.2, Industrial Area Gagret, Tehsil Ghanari, District Una. After the matter was brought to the government’s attention, a letter numbered STP-F(10)2/2016 dated 21-07-2023 was issued to the SPCB, directing a re-investigation and submission of a fresh report. The investigation is currently ongoing, stated the governmental reply.
As per the reply the second complaint involved Rakesh, Senior Environmental Engineer, SPCB, regarding his inappropriate behavior. Following an inquiry conducted by the department’s senior scientific officer, a show-cause notice was issued to Rakesh. Additionally, advisory notices were issued to the Regional Office as well. The department has assured that appropriate action will be taken after receiving a satisfactory explanation.
The Chief Minister’s office was also questioned about the number of files currently pending within the department, but no specific information was provided during the session.
