In a proud moment for India and the paragliding community, the Bir Paragliding Association (BPA) has congratulated Alisha, a young pilot from Mandi raised in Bir Billing, for making history at the international level.
In an official statement on social media, the BPA said, “A young paraglider from Mandi, raised in Bir Billing, has made history for India in the world of paragliding. She competed in six international events in Kazakhstan (May–June 2025) and brought home an incredible 3 trophies and 14 medals — including 6 Gold, 5 Silver, and 3 Bronze.”
Calling it the highest medal haul ever by an Indian in a single international tour, the Association emphasized the significance of her achievement in promoting the sport nationally.
The statement further added, “In the latest paragliding rankings, Alisha is now ranked 20th among women worldwide, and holds the 1st position among women in India. She is the first Indian woman ever to achieve this global ranking, setting yet another benchmark for Indian paragliding.”
The BPA, through its team including PWCA representative Suresh Thakur, extended heartfelt congratulations to Alisha for her remarkable success.
“Congratulations to Alisha for making us proud,” the statement read.
Alisha’s achievement not only adds to India’s sporting credentials but also shines a spotlight on Bir Billing — one of the world’s premier paragliding destinations — as a nurturing ground for world-class talent.
