
HPNLU Shimla organises 6th Intra Mediation Competition, students showcase ADR skills

The Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Cell of Himachal Pradesh National Law University successfully organised the 6th Intra Mediation Competition, 2026 on May 16 and 17, providing law students with a practical platform to sharpen their mediation, negotiation and advocacy skills.
Held under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, the competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across the university in six competitive slots. Participants engaged in simulated mediation proceedings centred around a contemporary commercial dispute proposition aimed at testing their negotiation strategies, communication skills, creative thinking and problem-solving abilities under pressure.
According to the university, the competition was designed to strengthen students’ understanding of mediation processes and collaborative dispute resolution mechanisms, while promoting practical exposure to the growing field of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
The performances of participating teams were evaluated by assessors from reputed institutions across the country, including Jindal Global Law School, National Law University Delhi and Gujarat National Law University. The university stated that the interaction with experienced academicians and professionals offered valuable feedback and guidance to the participants for future mediation competitions and professional careers in ADR.
The event was organised by Dr. Ruchi Gupta, Faculty Convenor of the ADR Cell.
The university said the competition reaffirmed HPNLU’s commitment towards promoting ADR education and nurturing future professionals in the field of mediation and dispute resolution.
