Shimla, Feb 14
The Himachal Road Transport Corporation has outlined a plan to resume services effectively to capital Delhi starting February 14, 2024. The decision was taken following consultations with the Delhi Police, stated Rohan Chand Thakur, Managing Director of the Himachal Road Transport Corporation in a media release.
Buses will operate along National Highway-44, with designated stops including Bus Stand Delhi, Majnu Ka Tilla, Signature Bridge, Khajuri Chowk, Loni, Khekhra, Express Way, and Rai.
Thakur added that contingency routes have also been established in case of closures along the Ambala-Chandigarh Highway, with buses rerouting via Saha, Shahbad, Ladwa, Pipli, and Karnal.
Noteworthy that in response to the call issued by the United Kisan Morcha to enter Delhi, the Delhi Police took preemptive measures by sealing all entry and exit points of the city on the evening of February 13, 2024. This action resulted in the suspension of all public bus services entering Delhi on that day, causing significant inconvenience to commuters.
Consequently, the Himachal Road Transport Corporation swiftly responded by announcing the suspension of all bus services bound for Delhi up to Chandigarh, as well as those originating from Delhi, on February 13, 2024. This decision was made in light of the road congestion and border sealing, aiming to mitigate disruptions and ensure passenger safety, he stated.
The passengers are advised to stay informed by contacting their nearest bus stand or reaching out to the Himachal Road Transport Corporation through their control rooms in Shimla, Delhi, or Chandigarh. The contact numbers are 0177-2658765, 011-23868694, and 94633-78026, respectively.
“Passenger safety and smooth operations amidst challenging circumstances, is our commitment, concluded the Managing Director.
