Shimla, June 6
Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) and Hospital, Shimla, has rejected reports claiming that beneficiaries under the Himcare and Ayushman Bharat health insurance schemes are facing difficulties in obtaining medicines, asserting that no such verified case has come to the notice of the hospital administration.
In a clarification issued on Saturday, the Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) of Indira Gandhi Hospital Rahul Rao stated that the administration had taken note of media reports regarding the alleged unavailability of medicines for scheme beneficiaries.
However following an internal inquiry and consultations with concerned officials, the facts mentioned in the reports could not be substantiated.
The hospital administration highlighted that around ten days ago, the Himachal Pradesh government released Rs 100 crore to ensure uninterrupted availability of medicines and healthcare services in government hospitals across the state. Of this amount, approximately Rs 10 crore was allocated to IGMC and Indira Gandhi Hospital.
According to the CMS, the release of funds has ensured the smooth functioning of services under the Himcare Scheme, including the availability of medicines and treatment facilities for eligible patients.

The administration further stated that it has not identified any confirmed instance where a beneficiary eligible under the Himcare or Ayushman Bharat schemes was denied medicines or treatment.
It has appealed to the public and media to bring any specific cases to the notice of the hospital administration so that a factual investigation could be conducted and appropriate action taken if required.
Reaffirming its commitment to patient care, the hospital said it remains dedicated to providing quality healthcare services and ensuring that benefits under the Himcare Scheme reach all eligible beneficiaries without interruption.
The clarification comes amid concerns raised in sections of the media regarding the availability of medicines under the government-sponsored health insurance schemes.
