For the first time in 2021 snow continues at many places in the high reaches and rain is lashing most parts of state as thick clouds continue hovering in the sky since early this morning. Disrupting traffic on National Highways and many roads in the state.
Hundreds of roads have been reported snow bound in the state on Tuesday. About 322 link roads, three National highways and one state highway are reported to be snow bound in the state. Since last 24 hrs snow fall is continuing in High reaches of Chamba, Lahaul Spiti, Kinnuar and Shimla district as 164 roads, three NH and one State highway were closed till yesterday.
Vehicular traffic is closed between Theog and Chopal, Theog and Jubbal Kotkhai due to closing down of Rihwumi, Deori, Khirki and Kharapather areas. Vehicular was partly disrupted this afternoon on Hindustan Tibet National Highway at Kufri.Â
In last 24 hrs there are reports of light to moderate rain or snow in the state. The Met Office recorded 18 cm snow in Kalpa in Kinnuar district till 0830 hrs today, Khadrala in Shimla 15 cm, , Samdhu and Pooh five cm each, Moorang four cm, Shillaro and Keylong three cm .
From 0830 hrs till 1730 hrs on Tuesday Kalpa reported about 40 cm fresh snowfall in Kinnuar district 15 cm in Keylong of Lahaul Spiti and 10 cm in Kufri near Shimla, Morang in Kinnuar had eight cm snow and Pooh in five cm.
Tourist Resort Dalhousie in Chamba and Wangtoo of Kinnuar had 14 mm rain each, Saloni in Chamba and Jogindernagarin Mandi 13 mm each, Theog in Shimla 12 mm, Jubbal 11 mm, Ghamroor, Sujanpur Tira and Tissa 10 mm
Baijnath in Kangra and Recong-Peo in Kinnuar nine mm each, Sangrah , Sarahan in Sirmaur and Nadaun in Hamirpur eight mm each, Palampur in Kangra seven mm, Gatton Barrage in Sirmaur adn Kotkhai in Shimla Bharmaur and Chamba five mm each.
Since 0830 hrs to 1730 hrs rain also lashed Tourist resort Manali and Dalhousie recorded 15 mm rain. Shimla and Solan ten mm, Bhuntar in Kullu and Nahan in Sirmuar nine mm, Chamba and Kangra five mm each, Dharmshala and Jubberhati four mm each and Una two mm. Jari and Jhungi had seven mm rain and Rapur in Shimla five mm. The Met office sound yellow alert in Bilaspur, Mandi and Kangra district warning Thunderstorm and lightning at isolated places in the state.
The state is facing freezing cold wave however minimum temperature was normal and slightly above normal today. Keylong recorded minus 4.3 degree Celsius, Kalpa at zero degrees, Kufri 2.7 degrees, Dalhousie 3.5 degrees, Manali four degrees, Dharmshala five degrees, Shimla 6.6 degrees, Palampur 7.5 degrees.
Chamba 7.7 degrees, Mandi eight degrees, Mandi and Bilaspur eight degrees, Hamirpur and Solan 8.2 degrees, , Bhuntar 8.3 degrees, Sundernagar 8.4 degrees , Nahan 8.9 degrees and Una 9.7 degrees.
The state likley to have more rain or snowfall till this night and there is forecast of rain or snow in few places of foot hills and high reaches and isolated places in next 24 hrs.
