Shimla, April 4- Junior Engineer caught accepting bribe at Sangrah in Sirmour
In a shocking incident, a Junior Engineer posted in the office of BDO Sangrah, District Sirmour, was caught red-handed while allgedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000/-. The accused, identified as Pradeep Kumar Sharma, has been booked under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
As per the complaint lodged by the victim, Sharma had demanded the bribe in exchange for preparing an estimate for the construction of a link road from Khardiya Mor to Pallar Khud, Gram Panchayat, Sangrah, District Sirmour. The complainant approached the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), following which a trap was laid to catch the accused.
The ACB officials caught Sharma red-handed while accepting the bribe from the complainant. The accused has been taken into custody and will face legal proceedings for his actions.
This incident has again brought to light the rampant corruption prevalent in the country, especially in government offices. It is a matter of concern as corruption affects the economy and erodes public trust in government institutions.
