Shimla, May 28,
Shimla’s iconic Scandal point on the Mall Road transformed into a vibrant film set on Monday as shooting commenced for the upcoming Bollywood film Dadi Ki Shaadi. The scene featured two majestic black yaks from Kufri alongside veteran actress Neetu Singh and famous comedy star Kapil Sharma, drawing attention from tourists and locals alike. This marked the first time yaks have been featured in a film sequence on the pedestrian street, traditionally known for pony rides and its colonial architecture.

The film, directed by Ashish R Mohan and starring Neetu Kapoor, revolves around the unconventional story of an elderly woman’s remarriage. The inclusion of yaks in the song sequence added a unique touch, highlighting Himachal Pradesh’s cultural and natural heritage. The production team ensured that animal welfare protocols were followed during the filming.
Prior to the shoot, the cast and crew sought blessings at the Jakhu Temple, connecting the film’s narrative with local traditions. The presence of yaks on Mall Road not only provided a fresh visual element but also underscored a growing trend of integrating regional icons into mainstream cinema. Locals hope that such portrayals will boost tourism and offer a renewed identity to Shimla’s already famous landscape.
Dadi Ki Shaadi is expected to wrap up filming by May end, with additional shoots planned in Chandigarh, Delhi, and Mumbai.
