Lahaul-Spiti Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar confirmed that the incident, triggered by inclement weather, has severely impacted connectivity. In light of the situation, Udaipur Police Station has issued an official advisory, temporarily halting all traffic along the affected stretch. Authorities have urged commuters and locals to strictly follow the directions of on-site personnel to ensure their safety.
Restoration work is being carried out by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) in coordination with the district police. However, the continuous snowfall has hampered clearance efforts, leading to delays. Despite the challenges, the BRO has launched operations to remove the debris, and as per the latest update, traffic is likely to resume between 2 PM and 3 PM today, subject to weather conditions.
According to Raj Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters), Lahaul-Spiti, approximately 130 police personnel were deployed to manage the situation. All passengers stranded due to the landslide were safely assisted and secured by the district police on the same day.
Authorities remain alert and are prepared to ensure safe transit once conditions improve. In the meantime, travelers planning to head towards Pangi from Udaipur have been advised to remain on the Udaipur side, as there are no lodging facilities available at Tindi. Officials continue to monitor the situation closely and have assured that further updates will be provided as developments occur.
Law enforcement has expressed gratitude for the cooperation shown by the public and reiterated the importance of following safety guidelines and traffic protocols to prevent any unfortunate incidents.
