Shimla, Aug 25,
Early Sunday morning, residents near the Doctor Hostel Block A at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) in Lakkar Bazaar, Shimla, were alarmed by the discovery of a dead leopard cub close to their vicinity.
Authorities were promptly informed, and the police quickly responded to the situation by securing the area. They then alerted the Forest Department, which dispatched a team to the site.
The Forest Department has now taken custody of the cub and launched an inquiry to determine the circumstances leading to its death and how it came to be in the area.
Initial findings suggest that the cub may have been hit by a vehicle in the early hours while possibly searching for prey. The carcass has been transported to the wild animals rehabilitation care center in Tutikandi for a post-mortem examination to ascertain the precise cause of death.
Authorities are expected to provide further updates as the investigation continues.
