Shimla, Apr 15,
Himachal Pradesh witnessing a mix of dry spells and nature’s gentle touch as light rain and snowfall graced scattered areas in the high reaches, defying the ongoing orange alert.
While most of the state remained under the sway of dry weather, Kullu, Lahaul Spiti, and Mandi districts received a refreshing sprinkle. Kothi in Kullu danced in 36.4 mm of rain, Manali embraced 26 mm, Seobagh 20 mm, and Bhunter 10.9 mm. Joggindernagar in Mandi enjoyed a nine mm shower.
In the high reaches of Lahaul Spiti, a picturesque canvas of light to moderate snowfall painted the landscape, with Koksar receiving a delicate 1.2 mm. Despite this winter charm, the Darcha to Sachu road and Losar to Gramphu roads remain snowbound, contrasting with normal vehicular activity elsewhere in the district.
Cloudy skies played a cooling role, causing temperatures to dip by a few degrees in the past 24 hours. The mercury settled at Shimla’s 10.4 degrees, Sundernagar’s 14.4 degrees, Bhuntar’s 12.6 degrees, Kalpa in Kinnaur at a crisp six degrees, and Dharamshala and Una at a comfortable 16 degrees. Nahan stood at a mild 18 degrees.
The chill was most pronounced in Keylong at 2.7 degrees, closely followed by Manali at 3.2 degrees. Solan stood at 13 degrees, Kangra at 17.6 degrees, Mandi at 14 degrees, Bilaspur at 17 degrees, Hamirpur at 14 degrees, Chamba at 15.3 degrees, Dalhousie at 4.5 degrees, Airport Jubberhatti at 16.4 degrees, Kufri at 9.1 degrees, and Narkanda at 6 degrees.
The Indian Meteorological Department issued an orange alert today, predicting heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, hail, and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) at isolated places.
While widespread rain or snowfall is on the forecast for today, Himachal Pradesh is poised for a delicate dance with nature, likely experiencing light rain and snowfall at isolated places tomorrow.
