Shimla, Apr 16
A tragic incident unfolded in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh, as a husband and wife lost their lives in a devastating car accident. Subhash Chandra, 57, and his wife Ranjana Devi, 55, residents of Jhajjar village, Bilaspur, were traveling with their son Ankush and daughter-in-law Ankita Kumari towards the Makaranda pilgrimage site. The family’s journey took a tragic turn when their car veered out of control on the Shimla-Mataur National Highway.
As the car approached a sharp turn near Delag of Barmana, tragedy struck. The vehicle careened off the road, plunging a harrowing 90 meters into a deep ditch. The impact was devastating, claiming the lives of Subhash Chandra and Ranjana Devi instantly. Meanwhile, Ankush and Ankita Kumari, both in their early twenties, sustained severe injuries in the horrific crash.
Following the accident, authorities swiftly responded, with DSP Bilaspur Headquarters Madan Dhiman leading the investigation. The bodies of the deceased couple underwent post-mortem examinations before being released to their grieving family members. Meanwhile, Ankush and Ankita Kumari were rushed to AIIMS Bilaspur for urgent medical treatment.
The heart-wrenching incident left the community in shock and mourning. DSP Dhiman assured that the police had initiated an investigation into the accident to determine the exact causes. The loss of Subhash Chandra and Ranjana Devi, a husband and wife who met an untimely end on their way to a religious site, serves as a somber reminder of the unpredictability of life’s journey.
