Shimla, May 25
As rain and snow lashes the state, there are reports that the Manali Leh highway beyond Darcha has been halted. A spokesperson of the district disaster management authority informed that along with heavy rain, there is snowfall in the Lahaul Valley. He said that the Manali Leh Highway (NH-003) is restored for traffic movement from Manali to Darcha but vehicular movement has been stopped due to snowfall beyond Darcha. Traffic has also been stopped on Darcha Shinkula road. Movement has also been stopped on Koksar Losar Kaza road (NH-505). Pangi road (SH-26) is closed since last yesterday due to landslide and bridge damaged. Local people and tourists are advised to avoid unnecessary travel due to bad weather and travel only in case of emergency.
Meanwhile weather department has stated that the wet weather shall continue for the next 3-4 hours wherein Shimla, Chamba, Una, Kangra, Kinnaur, Hamirpur, Solan, Sirmour, Bilaspur, Kullu and Mandi are likely to get rain with thunderstorms.
