Murder of youth in Chamba, triggers communal colours in HP

Nearing lok sabha polls, politics took a ugly turn in Himachal as the State BJP leadership accused people belonging to minority family to be indulged in a incident of crime. Later a right wing protest in Salooni of Chamba district was witnessed and a house belonging to a minority family was allegedly set on fire.
Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur today demanded NIA probe into murder of a man blaming few of minority community for the act. Addressing a press conference in Shimla he said that a case of gory crime came fore in Chamba district on June 6, 2023 a victim identified as Manohar belonged to dalit family went missing from home.  A few days later, his dead body was recovered in a drain inside a sack. He said that this crime is rare in the peaceful state of Himachal Pradesh.
He said that police should expidite the probe in crime as Social harmony was being disturbed in the society. The Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur blamed a man belonging to minority communities Musafir Mohammad, his wife Farida and six others.
Later, the CM Sukhu rebutted by stating that politicising the crime should not be done. The CM said that law is taking its course and those guilty will soon be behind bars.
Sukhu urged to refrain giving political colour to the tragic incident in Salooni.
After the incident Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu also convened a review meeting to counter the propaganda and controlling the law and order stitution. It is worthwhile to mention that Director General of Police Sanjay Kandu is not in the state and on leave for a month. During Chief Minister’s tenure this is not first communally flared incident but similar mishap also occured in Manikaran recently after allegedly prokhalistani youth tried to break out a clash with local people in Sikh shrine city Manikaran of Kullu district.
