Narrow escape for SDM Kotkhai as LPG blasts in residence

Subdivision Magistrate Ashwani Kumar Sharma of Kotkhai narrowly escaped a major LPG blast in the district last midnight, suffering injuries, as confirmed by police sources. The mishap occurred in the residence of the SDM at Kotkhai, approximately 80 km from here.
SDM Ashwani Kumar Sharma sustained burn injuries after an LPG cylinder explosion in Jasta Building, Kotkhai Bazar, around 0315 hrs on Friday. In the statement given to the police, the SDM mentioned that at around 3 o’clock in the night, when he woke up from sleep to drink hot water and tried to turn on the gas stove, the entire kitchen suddenly caught fire, leading to the engulfing of the entire floor in flames.
The impact of the LPG blast was so intense that doors and glass windows of the house were damaged. The infernos were brought down with the help of neighbors.
