Shimla, July 11
The Himachal Pradesh Transport Corporation has decided not to extend the benefits of a 50 per cent discount to women while booking online. However, it would continue to provide a subsidised journey in the intrastate route if the beneficiary takes tickets offline.
HRTC Deputy DM Traffic Devasen Negi told the media person today that women would not be given a discount on online ticket booking as there is a possibility of fraud. Only if women buy tickets at the counter or from the bus conductor would the discount be applicable.
In the wake of the upcoming Assembly Election, the state government has decided to offer fifty per cent concessional fare to the woman with effect from July 1 in all ordinary buses.
Negi said that women must remit full money if they book tickets online. The corporation management also clarified that women would get a 50 per cent discount on fares only in buses running in Himachal Pradesh. Also, money would not be refunded once deducted, provided the beneficiary cancels their booking.
