Shimla, July 31
The state of Himachal Pradesh received 331.55mm rain, which is considered to be normal. A spokesperson of the Indian Meteological department informed that Monsoon had arrived on 29th June in the most part of the state. During monsoon Season i.e., 01.06.2022 to 31.07.2022 state had received 331.5mm actual rainfall with departure (-7%).
During this period Eight (08) spells of very heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places in the district of
Sirmaur, Kangra, Solan, Una, Bilaspur, Mandi. On July 11, Dharamshala received 227.4 mm rain. Jatton Barage 165 mm rain on July 3. On July 6 , Baijnath got 128mm rain. Nurpur in Kangra received 120mm. Kasauli recorded 163 mm and Bangana 131 mm rain on July 17. On July 18, Dharampur got 121 mm rain. Nagrota Suriyan got 130mm rain on July 20, Ghumarwin 137mm and Gohar 120mm rain on July 24 and Dharamshala again received 137.20mm rain on July 31, so far.
The State has received normal rainfall in July month from 01.07.2022 to 31.07.2022 with actual rainfall 264.5mm and departure of (3%).
District wise, Shimla (352.9)and Kullu (298.4mm) had received large excess rainfall District Bilaspur (420.5) had received excess rainfall. District Kinnaur(75mm), Chamba(278.6), Kangra(695.7), Hamirpur(352.6), Una(232.8), Mandi(453) and Solan (384.1) had received normal rainfall whereas District Sirmaur(383.8) had received deficient rainfall and District Lahaul-Spiti (35.8) had received largely deficient rainfall.
Taking 2004 to 2022 period in consideration, the state has recorded normal rain only 6 times. The state recorded normal monsoon rains in 2005, 2010, 2015, 2018, 2021 and this year 2022.
During July month there were 13 flash floods, 11 Landslide and 3 Cloud burst, incidents. Maximum weather related disasters were noted in Kullu and Lahaul-Spiti and Shimla.(Source HP_SDMA).
Giving forecast for the coming week, the spokesperson said Heavy rainfall very likely to continue plains, low, mid hills distt /area of the state during next 24 hrs. Precipitation activity likely to decrease with moderate intensity and spread around for subsequent 3-4 days. Heavy rainfall fall in parts of the district Chamba, Bilaspur, Kangra , Mandi, Solan and Sirmaur , ,Hamirpur Una and adjoining area is expected during this period. Light to moderate rainfall in Lahual spiti and Kinnaur district during this period.
