OPDs at IGMC Shimla will resume with immediate effect. OPD slips/registration shall be made between 8:30 AM to 12 PM informed Dr JanakRaj Medical Superintendent of IGMC Shimla in order to avoid any inconvenience to the patients referred to this hospital for consultation to the specialist(s).
Though in current emergency services are operational at the state hospital. Even critical patients like cancer etc are also being provided necessary treatment/procedures. “ However we would still urge all citizens, that initially they should first consult the local/’Mohalla’ PHC/Health center, and only if need, the concerned doctor may refer the case to the hospital. He said that during the pandemic even e-clinics have been made operational and soon a tele-medicine wing is also coming up, he informed. In this era of technology one should take maximum use of the same, so that crowds can be avoided from reaching the state hospital.
He said all doctors/nurses/paramedical staff/etc who were handling COVID-19 patients have also been quarantined for 14 days.”A total of 15 staff members have been put under quarantine.
Though Medical Superintendent was not able to give the exact number of PPE kits available with them, however he informed that the hospital has enough kits for the current situation. He also informed that the state hospital has 25 dedicated ventilators.
On the question by HimachalScape that whether lock-down is the solution to safeguard from crisis, he stated that time was required for arrangements.
