Opposition Congress blamed Narendra Modi and Jai Ram Govt for mishandling of Covid pandemic adding that they are not sensitive towards the vagaries of people.
Attending a discussion on the Covid situation under rule 130 in the house, Cong member Inderdutt Lakhan Pal said that the state Govt could not tackle the Covid pandemic. He said that there was complete chaos in hospitals and administrations, as no one was there to help the affected people.
” I met a wailing woman who had lost her husband. She informed that the death certificate was not being issued to her, since the last four hours. I called the Chief Minister and the certificate was issued .” Adding to it Lakhanpal questioned, that what are the officers doing in the hospitals. According to the MLA in this era of digital revolution death certificates could have been issued online to people .
Five members of well a known chartered accountant Sunil Chandel contracted Covid-19. There was no one left to claim his body. Therefore, the body of Chandel was not being released by the hospital and became possible only with the pressure of people.
The member further pointed out that most of the black fungus cases are being detected due to Govt negligence. He alleged that it was negligence in supply of industrial oxygen as the same was issued for medical purpose. ”Number of people died and contracted black fungus due to the supply of industrial oxygen.” he said.
The MLA demanded compensation to those who died due Covid pandemic or while recovering from it.
Congress member Vikramditya Singh said that a number of people died and suffered due to the failure of govt which was unable to provide enough oxygen.
Terming Jai Ram Govt vaccination policy defective he said that Govt did not present the true picture of availability of vaccine online, thus misleading youth who were not able to book their dose. How could they shirk from the responsibility of vaccinating the entire youth. He also questioned the inconsistency of the Govt to open and close the border while trying to contain the pandemic.
The young MLA also questioned the use of MC garbage vans for transporting dead bodies of covid patients. MLA said that 50 percent ventilators procured by the state under PM procurement scheme from China and Italy had to surrendered by the state as they were not fit and effective for proper supply of oxygen.
