Over 14 lakh pilgrims visited major temples across Himachal Pradesh during the Chaitra Navratri festival being observed from March 30 to April 5, 2025. As per data compiled by the Police Headquarters in Shimla, a total of 14,15,202 devotees paid obeisance at the prominent shrines across the state.

Among the most visited temples, Shri Jawalaji Mata Ji in Dehra recorded the highest footfall with 5,63,577 pilgrims, followed by Shri Mata Bala Sundri Ji in Sirmaur which saw 2,77,500 visitors, and Shri Naina Devi Ji in Bilaspur where 2,52,700 devotees arrived during the week.
Shri Chintpurni Mata Ji in Una welcomed 1,00,800 pilgrims, Shri Baglamukhi Mata Ji in Dehra witnessed 81,975 visitors, while Shri Chamunda Devi Ji and Shri Brajeshwari Mata Ji in Kangra recorded 70,000 and 68,650 pilgrims respectively.
In addition to the pilgrim footfall, the movement of vehicles across temple towns was also substantial. A total of 12,311 heavy motor vehicles (HMVs), 51,123 light motor vehicles (LMVs), and 40,413 two-wheelers were reported on roads leading to these religious destinations.
“Despite the large numbers, traffic and crowd management during the festival remained smooth and efficient,” stated a police spokesperson.
The Director General of Police, Himachal Pradesh, lauded the efforts of all district police units, traffic management teams, home guards, and volunteer organizations for their dedicated service during the festival.
Their well-coordinated, round-the-clock deployment played a crucial role in ensuring the safety of lakhs of pilgrims and the peaceful conduct of this major religious event. The incident-free celebrations reflect the professionalism and commitment of the Himachal Pradesh Police and all support teams involved.
