
Parthajit De SJVN Director Finance: NHPC veteran assumes charge at PSU

SJVN Limited, a Navratna public sector enterprise under the Union Ministry of Power, has appointed Parthajit De as Director (Finance), strengthening the company’s top management at a time when the power sector is seeing growing focus on financial discipline, regulatory compliance and project expansion.
The charge was formally assumed on Thursday in the presence of SJVN Chairman and Managing Director Bhupender Gupta, who welcomed De and congratulated him on taking over the key position in the company.
Before joining SJVN, De was serving in NHPC Limited, where he handled major responsibilities linked to corporate accounts and policy, corporate taxation, and employment benefit trusts at the corporate office. He had also served as Nominee Director on the Board of Loktak Downstream Hydroelectric Corporation Limited, a subsidiary of NHPC.
With a career spanning more than 27 years, De brings extensive experience in corporate accounts, taxation, financial systems and contracts, along with a working understanding of Indian Accounting Standards, tariff regulations, taxation laws and corporate governance norms relevant to the power sector. His experience is expected to be significant for financial planning and management in hydro and other energy projects.

Over the course of his career, he has worked across multiple locations and assignments, including the Rangit Project in Sikkim, Teesta Low Dam Projects in West Bengal, Siang Basin Projects in Arunachal Pradesh and the Rural Roads Project in Bihar. He also headed the committee for first-time adoption of Indian Accounting Standards (Ind AS) in NHPC, reflecting his role in institutional financial transition and compliance systems.
De started his professional journey with NHPC as Trainee Officer (Finance) in November 1998. He is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI) and also holds qualifications in Chartered Financial Analyst and CGMA.
