Shimla, July 15
An FIR was lodged by three growers for allegedly plucking and damaging apple crop in orchards at Chiuna village under Chopal police station in this district. The same caused a loss to the tune of Rs 33 lakh, confirmed a state police officer.
Superintendent of Police Shimla Dr Monika Bhutunguru said that an FIR is lodged under section 447 for criminal trespassing, 427 for mischievous causing damage and Sec 34 has been registered at Chopal police station on Friday.
She said that the case has been registered on the application of Dula Ram, Amar Singh and Mohan Singh of Vill.Chiuna PO Sarain Tehsil Chopal alleging that between July 13 & 14, 2022 some unknown persons entered in his orchard and and plucked apples from about 505 plants, which caused a loss of about 33 lakhs to all of them. Number of fruit were also found laying on the ground under the trees, they stated. Police do not rule out the role of local residents in this crime however the case is being investigated by head constable Rajesh Sharma.
