Prabodh Saxena will be the new Chief Secretary of Himachal Pradesh. Saxena is a 1990 batch IAS officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre and is originally from Uttar Pradesh.
Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu took a decision on the post of Chief Secretary late on Saturday night. This appointment of Saxena has been done after the retirement of Chief Secretary RD Dhiman. Dhiman retired on Saturday.
Before taking this top post, he had been posted as Additional Chief Secretary Finance and Personnel. The notification of his appointment was issued at 11:00 pm on new year’s eve.
The Chief Minister has also given appointments equivalent to the rank of Chief Secretary to other senior officers, Ram Subhag Singh and Sanjay Gupta. They will report directly to the Chief Minister. Sanjay Gupta, a 1988 batch IAS officer, was appointed as Principal Advisor, Public Grievance Redressal.
He will now hold the charge of MD, Ropeway Corporation and Chairman, State Pollution Control Board, working in the rank of Chief Secretary. Whereas, 1987 batch IAS officer Principal Advisor Administrative Reforms Ram Subhag Singh will now be the Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister. He will also hold the charge of Special Chief Secretary Energy and Chairman of Electricity Board.
Both of them will report to the Chief Minister instead of the Chief Secretary.
