Shimla, May 2
Preparations are in full swing at the Central University Himachal Pradesh (CUHP) in Dharamshala as President Droupadi Murmu is set to attend its 7th convocation on May 6. With 709 degrees set to be conferred during the event at the Dharamshala Degree College auditorium, the university is gearing up for a momentous occasion.
Vice Chancellor Acharya Sat Prakash Bansal recently inspected the convocation venue, ensuring that all necessary arrangements are in place for the successful execution of the event. Accompanied by university officials including Registrar Prof. Suman Sharma and Dean Academic Prof. Pardeep Kumar, the inspection aimed to guarantee a seamless experience for all.
President Murmu’s attendance marks only the third time a President will be visiting the university for its convocation as a chief guest. Previous dignitaries include former President Pranab Mukherjee in 2014 and former President Ram Nath Kovind in 2022.
CUHP spokesperson Pooja Awasthi emphasized that such visits underscore the university’s commitment to academic excellence and the preservation of traditional Indian values through innovative research.
During the convocation, President Murmu will confer honors upon PhD, M.Phil, Gold Medal, Graduate, Postgraduate students, and research scholars from various disciplines. Additionally, the Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shiv Pratap Shukla, will grace the occasion as a special guest, further enhancing the significance of the event.
