
Shimla, April 27 President of India, Droupadi Murmu, arrived in Himachal Pradesh on Monday for a five-day summer sojourn, during which she would visit key locations across the state and participate in official engagements.
The President would stay at the Presidential Residence “The Retreat” located in Chharabra, on the outskirts of Shimla. The visit, extending till May 2, includes a mix of official functions and field visits in different districts.
On April 29, the President is scheduled to visit the Atal Tunnel, Rohtang, where she will interact with officials of the Border Roads Organisation and review the engineering and operational aspects of the tunnel, considered a landmark infrastructure project in the region.
On April 30, she will attend the convocation ceremony of Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya in Palampur as the chief guest. Later the same day, she is slated to participate in a programme at the Army Training Command in Shimla.
In view of the high-profile visit, the state administration has put in place elaborate security arrangements. More than 1,000 personnel of the Himachal Pradesh Police and other security agencies have been deployed in Shimla, with additional measures enforced at Palampur, Manali, and the Atal Tunnel area.
Authorities have adopted a “Zero Error” security protocol, ensuring strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures, real-time coordination among agencies, and preparedness for contingencies. The administration stated that all arrangements have been fine-tuned to ensure a secure, smooth, and well-coordinated visit.
The President is scheduled to return to New Delhi on May 2 after concluding her engagements.
The visit of President Droupadi Murmu to Himachal Pradesh to coincide with a packed schedule of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, who is set to accompany and participate in key engagements across Shimla district on Monday.
According to the official tour programme, the Chief Minister would depart from Oak Over, Shimla, at 10:45 AM and arrive at Kalyani Helipad at 11:05 AM to receive the President. He will then proceed to Rashtrapati Niwas, Mashobra, where he is scheduled to arrive at 11:55 AM.
