Recovery of suspicious balloon near Shimla raises concerns
Shimla, May 20
In yet another incident involving suspicious activities of foreign elements, a balloon was discovered in the forest area of Matholi village near Shoghi, on the outskirts of Shimla. The local police officer confirmed that they had received information from reliable sources regarding a Pakistani balloon found near the village. Promptly responding to the alert, a police team was dispatched to the location and successfully recovered a yellow paper in the shape of a helicopter, with the words “SGA Pakistan” written in red.

This occurrence follows a similar incident that took place on January 30 in the Janjehli area of Mandi district. At that time, a balloon carrying Pakistani currency notes, specifically a ten-rupee denomination, was found near Janjehli. Mandi police chief, Shalini Agnihotri, had verified the incident but stated that no evidence of foul play or suspect involvement was uncovered.
It is speculated that both balloons may have been carried by strong winds, considering the recent windstorm recorded in the state. While investigations into these incidents are ongoing, authorities have yet to establish any direct links to malicious intent or specific individuals. However, the discoveries have raised concerns about the potential infiltration of foreign elements in the region.
Local authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or discoveries promptly.
Pertinent to mention that reportedly, BSF shot down two Pakistani drones in Punjab and recovered 2.6 kgs of Heroin. The troops laid down a black coloured Drone (Quadcopter, DJI Matrice 300 RTK) at Village Udhar Dhariwal, Distt – Amritsar. As per the laid down drill, the troops immediately reacted to intercept the drone by firing. Another Quadcopter, DJI Matrice RTK 300 drone was laid down at village Rattan khurd in Amritsar. Two packets containing 2.6 kgs heroin was recovered from the drone.
