Kullu, Aug 20,
A 65-year-old retired school teacher, Desh Lal Gautam, died on Wednesday morning after falling from the rooftop of his four-storeyed house in Brau Panchayat of Nirmand block while trying to escape a troop of monkeys.
Police said Gautam had gone to the rooftop around 6:15 am to feed birds when the monkeys suddenly appeared and charged at him. In his attempt to flee, he slipped and fell. He was rushed to Khaneri Hospital but was declared brought dead.
Confirming the incident, DSP Aani Chandrashekhar Kayath said a case has been registered and investigations are underway.
In Shimla too, 378 monkey bite cases were reported in the first six months of 2025.
