Seasons first, Shimla city gets 15cm snow

Shimla experienced its first snowfall of the season, recording 10 to 15 cm in the town and higher amounts in nearby areas like Sanjuli (30 cm) and Kufri (45 cm). On thursday vehicular traffic faced disruptions, with roads cleared by the administration after an hour.
The Public Works Department encountered challenges in keeping Dhalli-Kufri roads open, using calcium chloride sprayers for the first time. Heavy snowfall in Narkanda and Kufri led to the temporary closure of Hindustan Tibet National Highway -22 also.
As per a report on thursday in the Shimla district, 13 roads are closed due to snow, affecting various routes. The met office has predictes that though precipation has decreased on February 2 but is likely to increase in intensity and distribution on the evening of 3rd Feb, continuing on 3rd and 4th Feb.
Sirmour also blessed by the white mantle
The high reaches of Sirmaur district in Himachal Pradesh finally received their first snowfall of the season today, marking a joyous end to a two-month long drought. The sight of snow-covered peaks brought smiles to the faces of farmers, apple growers, and tourism businesses alike, offering a much-needed boost to the region.
Churdhar peak, standing tall at 11,000 feet, received the most snowfall, with a blanket of 4-5 feet. This much-awaited precipitation comes as a sigh of relief after a harsh winter that saw crops ruined and horticulture struggling. Farmers and apple growers are now hopeful of a good harvest thanks to the replenished soil moisture.
