Sexual assault against student: Central University faculty member arrested

A faculty member posted in Central University of Himachal Pradesh was arrested by the State police on Tuesday on complaint of a pupil that she was sexually assaulted or raped by the accused. Sub-divisional police Officer Dehra Vishal Verma informed that accused was produced before the  judicial magistrate court Dehra on Wednesday and the JMC awarded two days police remand.

On the complaint of victim who is studying in CU, the police booked the accused under section 376 IPC on December 13.  The victim stated to police that accused used to teach the students as a lecturer in Dehra CUHP campus and during this time he allegedly lured victim on the pretext of marriage and raped her.

After the complaint medical investigation of the victim was done and evidences were collected against the accused. He was put behind bar on Tuesday evening.
