Shimla, Nov 22
Shimla Nagrik Sabha has given an ultimatum of three days to the district Administration for solving the dilapidated road situation of Shimla Airport road at Lower Tutu and Vijaynagar
causing heavy traffic jams and air pollution every day.  SNS convenor Vijendra Mehra and Secretary Kapil Sharma alleged that digging of pipes is going on at snailpace here, thus wrecking traffic as well as air pollution havoc in Lower Tutu and Vijaynagar of Tutu area on the Shimla Airport raod.
SNS in a press statement here stated that everyday, heavy traffic jams and broken water pipes almost choke the road moreover parking and automobile workshops on the narrow road has made it impossible for ambulances and other vehicles to commute since past several days. Moreover students who are facing term end examination in universities and schools are getting late by hours due to it. The uprooting of old pipelines is also forcing people to face water shortage in the town. The contractors are indulged in reckless unscientific excavation on the side of the road depleting the environment and causing air pollution due to dust in the entire area.
He said that it is not a matter of a week or a few days but the passerby and people walking
on foot are braving this menace since the past one month. From morning to late evening people
are facing great trouble due to frequent traffic jams, he added.
The employees are not able to attend their offices in the morning at time, as they reach late on duty everyday and similar remains the situation for them while coming back home in the evening.
They said that this is also causing loss to businesses as the markets have become congested places thus discouraging customers from shopping here.
He said that the main reason for this traffic jam is the frequent digging of Tutu, Lower Tutu and
Vijayanagar roads.  SNS alleged that the road has been dug up several times in the last one year but it has never been paved and mettled afterwards. Mehra said that administration should conduct an inquiry as to why this road is not being paved.
Warning the state Public Works Department they stated that if the jam situation does not improve shortly and road is not paved in time the, they would cordon the PWD headquarter in protest against the laxity.
