Shimla, May 7,
In a significant development that underscores the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, all civil flight operations at Himachal Pradesh’s three airports—Dharamshala (Gaggal), Kullu and Shimla—have been suspended with immediate effect till May 9. The suspension is part of a broader halt of civilian air traffic across key northern and western airports in the country, reportedly as a precautionary measure in response to the deteriorating security situation.

Even though the flights to this link were already under scanner due to inclement weather conditions going on in the State these days but the three airports, Kullu, Dharamshala and Shimla airports serve as vital air links for the hill state’s economy and governance, connecting remote areas to the national capital and other metros.
Airport sources at Shimla confirmed that the flights are be suspended till May 9, so far.
Though official statements remain guarded, the sudden grounding of flights suggests heightened military preparedness amid growing hostilities along the western border.
As the situation develops, authorities have urged travellers to remain in contact with airlines and refrain from speculative travel to the impacted regions. The aviation regulator is expected to issue further updates as the operational landscape becomes clearer. Meanwhile, the closure of Himachal’s airports has brought an pause to air connectivity in the hill state.
