Replying to a query Health Minister Rajiv Sehjal stated that all ventilators across the state are being made functional on priority. He said that the firm supplying ventilators are sending their teams to commission them in all facilities but such big numbers are not possible to be made functional at once. He assured the house that all ventilators being acquired in the state are to be installed soon in all the 47 dedicated Covid hospitals.
He said state Government was providing ventilators to all the district and Covid care centres. Adding, he said during the pandemic as many as new 610 ventilators have been provided to the state hospitals. Replying to a joint query raised by Congress member Jagat Singh Negi and Nand Lal said that out of 610 new ventilators provided in the state 500 were received from the Central government.
He said that out of 500 new ventilators from the centre 157 could not be made functional so far. He said that most of ventilators being provided in the state are manufactured indigenously under make in India scheme.
Raising the query Nand Lal said that total 12 ventilators were provided in the Mahatama Gandhi Zonal Hospital Rampur at Khanari but eight of them could not be made functional.
Negi also said that all the five ventilators provided in the district Hospital in Kinnaur were also lying idle in the boxes as they could not be made functional for long time. Cautioning the State, he said that all the ventilators should be made functional immediately. He demanded that all the ventilators should be dedicated to people owing to exigencies of covid-19.
” Unavailability of ventilators does not cause any death in the state. Those died in the state succumbed due to Covid reported co morbidity and low immunity to face the outbreak. Compared to our neighbouring states the condition of patients affected by the Covid is not so worse. ” Minister added.
