Shimla, Aug 23,
Former Sujanpur Congress MLA Rajinder Rana, former Nalagarh Independent MLA KL Thakur, and Kutlehar Congress MLA Davinder Bhutto appeared at Boileauganj police station today to participate in an ongoing investigation. The inquiry pertains to allegations of cross-voting and attempts to destabilize the Himachal Pradesh government during the February 27 Rajya Sabha elections.
The three MLAs, who are among nine legislators that stayed at a five-star hotel and later joined the BJP after mysteriously spending time outside the state, are being questioned about their role in the alleged government-toppling conspiracy.
Previously BJP MLA Ashish Sharma from Hamirpur secured bail in relation to the same case. The complaint, initially lodged by Congress MLAs Sanjay Awasthi and Bhuvneshwar Gaur in March, also implicates Rakesh Sharma, father of former Congress MLA Chetyana Sharma, as a co-accused.
As the investigation intensifies, there is growing speculation in Himachal Pradesh’s political circles regarding its potential impact on the state government and the forthcoming legislative session. The outcome of this inquiry could have significant implications for the state’s political future, especially with the legislative session approaching. Investigators are under increasing pressure to conclude their work before the session begins.
