
Shimla, June 15: Shimla Police have cracked the sensational murder case of Saraswati Paradise International School Director Manisha Mittal within 40 hours of the crime, arresting two alleged shooters from Haryana and recovering the pistol used in the killing.
Addressing a press conference on Monday, Additional Superintendent of Police, Shimla, Abhishek, said the accused have been identified as Ashish Ehlawat (22), a resident of Jhajjar, and Deepak (25), a resident of Rohtak. Both accused were arrested in Haryana and have confessed to their involvement in the murder during preliminary interrogation.
The ASP said the weapon used in the crime has also been recovered. Initial investigations revealed that the assailants used a vehicle bearing a Himachal Pradesh registration number to execute the murder. To evade detection, they allegedly avoided police checkpoints by using link roads. However, investigators were able to trace and apprehend the accused in a short span of time.
Police said further revelations are expected as the investigation progresses. The accused are being brought to Himachal Pradesh after completion of legal formalities in Haryana and are scheduled to be produced before a Shimla court on Tuesday. Officials added that several criminal cases had previously been registered against both accused.
According to police sources, a Swift car from Haryana carrying a Himachal Pradesh registration number (HP-10 series) was allegedly used in the commission of the crime.

Meanwhile, Himank Mittal, brother of the deceased, has also issued a statement regarding the case. He claimed that he had been attacked on June 1 and sustained injuries, due to which he had been staying at home throughout the month. He asserted that he had no role in Manisha Mittal’s murder and was fully cooperating with the police investigation.
Himank Mittal said a police team had visited his residence only a day earlier and maintained that he had no relationship with his sister and no involvement whatsoever in the incident.
Police have not disclosed any findings regarding the motive behind the murder and said all angles are being investigated. The probe is continuing.
