Kinnaur’s Pratham Yambur secures 841st rank in UPSC 2025
A standout story is that of Pratham Yambur, a 23-year-old from the remote Kamru village in Sangla Valley, Kinnaur district. Son of gardener Vyas Sundar and Anganwadi worker Rajdevi, Pratham clinched an impressive 841st rank in his second attempt.
Previously selected as an Assistant Commandant in the CISF, Pratham chose not to settle and continued his journey towards becoming an IAS officer. After completing his schooling at Shivalik Public School, Sangla, and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Recangpio, he graduated with a first-class Bachelor of Arts degree from Delhi University.
Alongside academics, Pratham was active in sports and co-curricular activities. He attributes his success to hard work, consistency, and unwavering dedication, and urged Himachali youth to stay away from drugs and remain focused on their goals.
Junga’s Ayushi Thakur joins Indian Revenue service
Another inspirational journey is that of Ayushi Thakur from Bhadech Panchayat in Junga Tehsil, part of the Kasumpati Assembly Constituency. She has been selected for the Indian Revenue Service (IRS), marking a major milestone not just for her family but for her entire region, which struggled with access to higher education until recently.
Ayushi credits her achievement to the support of her parents, Madan Mohan Thakur and Sulakshana Thakur, and her early mentor, teacher Mrs. Kamlesh.

CPI(M) leader Dr. Kuldeep Singh Tanwar lauded both Pratham and Ayushi, calling their success a proud moment for Himachal Pradesh. He also highlighted how the daughters of the state are now keeping pace with the sons, breaking traditional barriers and emerging as role models for the next generation.
