The State police today claimed that it is braced up for traffic and crowd control management as tourists and Christmas/New year travelers are already making beelines to towards Manali, Shimla, Dharamshala and Dalhousie.
A spokesman of state police stated here today that as usual, on the occasion of Christmas and eve of New Year, a large number of tourists from all across the country are expected to visit. Moreover the Meteorological department has also expressed the possibility of snowfall in the next one or two days.
“Adequate arrangements have been made by Himachal Pradesh police for securing law and order, traffic regulations including other necessary arrangements. Additional police force has been made available to concerned District Superintendents of Police for the purpose.
Apart from this, the following necessary guidelines/instructions have also been issued by the Police Headquarters. Every District Superintendent of Police shall appoint a Gazetted
Officer as daily duty officer in the district and shall display his name and contact details on the website and LED screens of the District Police. Along with this, they shall also liasen with the District Magistrates of their respective districts to appoint a duty magistrate on behalf of the administration and also issue necessary directions to other key departments.
They shall arrange Cranes (Recovery Vans) and place them at appropriate locations to remove unauthorized parking to avoid traffic congestion.
The spokesperson added that they shall use drones at entry points like Shimla, Parwanoo and
Pandoh etc. for accurate estimation of the number of tourists entering in the State.That they shall alsodepute adequate police force for traffic management and law & order duties.That they shall carry out regular search operations Hotels, Guest houses and other places of stay and shall also convene meetings with the hotel owners or managements in this regard. However, special care should be taken that the tourists do not face any inconvenience.
Alongwith this, the Superintendent of Police Cyber Crime has also been directed to take prompt action against such anti-social elements who post any objectionable/misleading information on social media.
Shimla District Administration has asked the tourist to park their vehicle in designated areas only, and enter in the town after showing hotel booking document. Police would not allow any vehicle if it could not reflect a confirmed booking.
