Kangra, June 16
As per reports arriving here, youth from different areas of the state raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, protesting the recruitment under ‘Agneepath’ in the army. It is being reported from Gaggal of district Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, from where the youth wanted to enter Dharamshala, where the PMs visit is scheduled for today.
District Councilor Pankaj Kumar, who is leading the youth movement, said that the Central government is playing with the future of the youth. He said that lakhs of youth dreaming of serving the Nation for a lifetime, passed the written examination and ground test four years ago, but the government has now decided to enlist them in the army for only four years. Pankaj alleged that the youth were not allowed to go to Dharamsala. He said that all the protestors were going to Dharamshala to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to get their problem resolved; however the local police did not let them do so.
He added that the youth of Himachal Pradesh are beaten up, and their voice is being suppressed by the regime of the current State government headed by CM Jairam Thakur. “However now the youth of the state is not going to bow down,” he stated. During the protest, the youth raised slogans against the government. After about 1 hour, the police left them in government buses and took them towards Chambi bridge and Kangra.
