109 nominations received for Shimla MC elections, Scrutiny to take place tomorrow
Shimla, April 18
As confirmed by ADM Rahul Chauhan, a total of 109 nominations have been submitted by various political parties and independent candidates for the upcoming municipal elections. The nominations will undergo scrutiny tomorrow, with the withdrawal of nominations scheduled for April 21. After the withdrawal, the final list of contesting candidates and their respective election symbols will be released on April 21, post 3 pm.
Of the 109 nominations, the Aam Aadmi Party has submitted 21, while the Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress have submitted 35 and 34 nominations, respectively. The Communist Party of India-Marxist has submitted four nominations, while the remaining 15 nominations were from independent candidates.

As political parties are gearing up for the competition as the election date draws near, interestingly, no nominations were received on the first day of nominations, on April 13. However, the momentum picked up as 22 nominations were received on April 17, and a whopping 87 nominations were received on April 18.
The upcoming municipal elections are anticipated to be highly competitive, with a significant number of candidates from various political backgrounds vying for coveted positions. The residents of the region eagerly await the final list of candidates to be released as they gear up to cast their votes and make their voices heard.
