Shimla, Sept 15,
The Himachal Pradesh Council of minister (CoMs) in a cabinet meeting on Monday announced around 4200 plus new job opportunities across power, health, revenue, and panchayati raj departments, while simultaneously withdrawing the Higher Grade Pay notification issued on September 6 that was intended to benefit 89 categories of employees.
In a Cabinet meeting the CoMs cleared the engagement of 1,602 Bijli Upbhogta Mitras in HPSEB, the filling up of 1,000 T/Mates, 645 Patwaris, 400 Staff Nurses, along with 300 Gram Panchayat trainees and 200 Medical Officers. It also approved 38 Assistant Professors in super-specialty streams, 25 Steno-Typists in the Secretariat, and fresh posts to strengthen police stations at Parwanoo and Dharampur.
On the other hand, the decision to withdraw the Higher Grade Pay notification is expected to impact a wide cross-section of employees, as the earlier order was meant to extend benefits to 89 different categories.
Apart from recruitment, the Cabinet rolled out significant reforms, including the establishment of 28 dialysis centres, bifurcation of medical cadres, affiliation of 100 government schools with CBSE, amendments in LADF rules, and model by-laws for rural construction to check haphazard building activity in villages.
It also approved administrative restructuring in several districts, opening of new tehsils, patwar circles, and Jal Shakti sub-divisions, besides green clearances for 13 renewable energy projects and the launch of the Chief Minister Start-Up Scheme in the Hospitality Industry with interest subsidy support.
They also gave a nod to amend Rule-7 of the H.P. Lease Rules, 2013 to allow land lease in favour of HIMUDA for 80 years, enabling the authority to continue providing safe and affordable housing to people at genuine rates.
Noteworthy that in recent weeks, the issue of job announcements has also sparked political controversy. BJP MLA Sudhir Sharma lodged a privilege motion alleging that Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu misled the Assembly regarding employment figures — claiming discrepancies in numbers cited in various fora, including the legislature, budget speeches, and public addresses.
