Vocational Teachers’ association seeks priority for private security students in Himachal Traffic volunteer scheme
Shimla, Sept 21,
The Himachal Pradesh Vocational Teachers’ Association has appealed to the state government to give priority to private security students under the newly launched Traffic Volunteer Scheme in Himachal Pradesh.
The scheme, introduced by the government, offers an honorarium of ₹40 per hour to citizens assisting in traffic management and road safety. According to the association, Class 12 students trained in the Private Security vocational subject are well-suited for the role as they already possess skills in discipline, safety, and regulation.
The association stated that engaging vocationally trained youth in this initiative will not only create new employment opportunities in Himachal Pradesh but also inspire more students to pursue skill-based education and vocational training.
“This step will encourage the adoption of vocational education in schools and strengthen the state’s skill development ecosystem,†the association noted.
Highlighting the importance of the move, Ashwani Datwalia, president of the Vocational Teachers’ Association, along with Shiv Anand Sharma, private security trade representative, said that government support for this demand could significantly boost the scope of vocational education and generate job avenues for youth trained in private security and road safety management.
With Himachal Pradesh focusing on traffic control, road safety, and skill development, the association believes the Traffic Volunteer Scheme can serve as a model to connect vocational education directly with employment.
